If you can believe it, we've been pretty busy in baby world. My family and friends in Illinois will be having a shower for us next month when I go home to visit, so we spent last Saturday at Target and Babies 'R Us completing our registry. Target was an interesting adventure. We have many, many problems with our registry, but I was able to straighten most of it out online. Babies 'R Us was a breeze, aside from the insane amount of decision-making that had to be done! I knew going into it that we would have a long day with lots of decisions to make about everything...diapers, bottles, and so on. However, actually looking at it all seeing the millions of different brands was another story! Anyway, we managed to survive, but we've gone back to our online registries a few times to add things we hadn't thought much about! :)
We have also ordered our nursery furniture. It's so cute! It's suppoed to be here in a couple of weeks, so I guess it's time to get going on painting the nursery. We finally settled on a color today - a medium shade of green. Can't wait to see things starting to come together!
Yesterday we had another doctor's appointment. It was a good one filled with all sorts of good news. :) I lost another pound, bringing me up to losing 6 pounds since the first visit. Who knew being pregnant would be a good weight-loss plan for me? My blood pressure was still looking good, so that was reassuring. I thought that I'd be on medicine for high blood pressure by now since it was high at our first visit. All of the bloodwork from our last visit came back looking great. The risk factor for having a baby with Down's Syndrome went from that of a 30-year-old to that of a 20-year-old, so that was really good to hear. Basically, there is a 1 in 20-something thousand chance that the baby could have Down's or another birth defect.
We scheduled our next appointment for March 25th. We will have an ultrasound and hopefully learn the gender of the baby. Only 5 1/2 weeks to go! Whoo hoo! Unfortunately, Eric will be out of town at the time of the ultrasound, so he will have to be there by speakerphone. His mom is going to go with, and I think she's pretty excited about seeing the baby.
I guess that's about it for now. I'm very much looking forward to going home to see the family in a few weeks! :)
