A birthday, a shower, and another doctor's appointment

Things have been busy, busy, busy around here! Last Monday, the 23rd, was a big day. I turned the dreaded 30. I can hardly believe that I'm out of my 20s!! My students were very sweet...I kept telling them that I was getting so old, and they reassured me that 30 is not old and that their parents are (for the most part) older than I am. I told them that didn't really surprise me since their parents do have an 11-year-old. :) I was amazed, though, because I remember thinking that 30 was so old when I was their age. Regardless, it was a nice compliment.

The 23rd was also our 2nd baby shower! We had a wonderful shower with all of my co-workers. There are two other teachers expecting in the near future as well, so it was a shower for the three of us. It was wonderful to share that time with my great work family. I am so thankful to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers for planning such a lovely shower! I've included some pictures from the shower below.

Finally, this past Friday we had another visit with the doctor. Things are still going fine. I gained four pounds in two week (eek!), my biggest gain so far! However, to be fair, I did have a birthday and a baby shower all in the same day, so it's obvious I had a ridiculous amount of unhealthy food in one week! This puts me at a total weight gain of two pounds throughout the pregnancy so far - not bad. My blood preassure was great, 124/82. He did put me on iron pills; apparently my test showed that I am slightly anemic. The doctor said that you typically lose one pint of blood in delivery, so taking the iron pills will keep me from feeling nauseous, dizzy, and tired following delivery. Finally, he said that I barely passed my gestational diabetes test. My number was 137 and the cut-off is 140. Guess I better be keeping an eye on my sugar from this point on! Her heartbeat has slowed down now that she's getting bigger. Hearing her heartbeat is always my favorite thing about seeing the doctor. :) I can only get so excited about weighing in and having my blood pressure taken! Anyway, we go back to see him again next week.

Tomorrow is our last day of school. I am definitely looking forward to summer break! Well, that about sums up what's been happening! Enjoy the shower pictures below!

Look at this adorable cake! So precious!

Eric and his parents also came to the shower, which made it even more special!
