Cora's First Week

Cora is officially one week old today. The week has flown by! We've had an eventful week, to say the least. Cora's first night home was really great. She fed and slept, and we were actually able to get a decent amount of sleep. Little did we know what would await us the next night! Tuesday night started off well with her feeding, but she basically refused to sleep all night long. By 3 a.m. or so, Eric and I were utterly exhausted, so Granny took over so we could sleep. I found out upon waking up a few hours later that she had been screaming because of tummy troubles. Her tummy was rock solid. We called the doctor's office and the nurse recommended that I lay off dairy for a few days to see if that was affecting her. We had another day of screaming and pain, but she has since gotten better. So, Mommy is on a dairy free diet for now! It was so hard watching her go through so much pain and not being able to do anything to help her. I am so thankful that we quickly found out what was bothering her and were able to get it taken care of right away.

We were released from the hospital on Monday afternoon.

Strapped in and ready to go for her first ride in the car!

Here we go, leaving the hospital.

Daddy wanted Mommy to ride in the back seat with her.

We're home!

On Wednesday, we went for her first doctor's appointment. She is doing really well! She weighs 7lbs. 8 oz. now and is growing rapidly (she eats like a little piggy!). We will go back again in two weeks for her next check-up.

On our way to see Dr. Pauli!

Nurse Melissa checking Cora's weight.

Cora hanging out waiting for the doctor to see her.

Dr. Pauli checking to see how healthy she is.

I couldn't believe how calm she was for him! She fusses every time we change her diaper!

Today she got her first bath at home. She hated it just as much as she hated her bath in the hospital! Granny was here to get some good pictures of it.

Getting ready for bath time!

Washing her eyes

Working our way from top to bottom.

Giving some Mommy love after torturing her.

Daddy cleaning Cora's ears.

What a cutie!

Getting some good daddy loving!

Not loving the hair washing...

Still not loving it.

And it's all over!

After that torment, she needed a good nap. :)

Here are a few sweet shots we've captured throughout the week.

Here are some things we've noticed about Cora this week:
* She is ticklish just above her hip. Daddy likes to tickle her.
* She has super long thumbs!
* Her neck is really strong - she picks her head up all the time.
* She likes to poop and pee when Daddy is in the middle of changing her diaper. :)
* She is a great snuggler! Her favorite way to be held is with her tummy on your chest.
* She makes silliest noises. She grunts and coos all the time while she's sleeping. It makes us laugh every time she does it!
* She likes listening to music.
* She is a very alert baby when she's awake. She tries to take in everything around her.
* She smiles a lot in her sleep. It is absolutely precious!

  1. One diaper changing hint. NEVER change a cold diaper. If it is warm it is safe because they just finished.
